Two from Sesame Street

Will and I went to a great retrospective of Sesame Street animation this weekend at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. I wanted to share two of my favorites… they’re wonderful.

I hadn’t seen this short for at least 25 years, so nice to see it again. A real joy from Derek Lamb.

Bud Luckey is an amazing artist, currently collaborating with the folks at Pixar.

Update: Janet Perlman tells me that the animation on “I Get Mad” is from Kai Pindal.

The second is like the meeting of Joey Ahlbum and Fred Burns.

Oh, lovely, lovely goats! Great animation! And the “Size of it” song reminds me of the “Power of Ten” post.

Thanks, Fran! Wonderful to see these again.

Do we know who made ‘Size of It’? Beautiful, smart, witty, just stunning.

Like the goat. Not that anyone nowadays would be allowed to see such ‘replicable behavior’ as lighting a firecracker next to someone. When did we get so literal-minded and spooked?

    Hi Ray!

“That’s About The Size” was made by Bud Luckey – he made some of the best animated shorts on Sesame Street. Beautiful shorts with beautiful music. Maybe you remember the Ladybug Picnic?
